SyncToy 2.0 Beta and Long file names being truncated GL29AB~1.WMA

I am trying to Echo a folder that has music files in it, 56.4 GB in total,
and it appears that some of the file names are being replaced on the Echo
location as follows.

Left side path is
D:\M\Glenn Gould\A State of Wonder- The Complete Goldberg Variations (1955 &
1981) Disc 1\Glenn Gould-A State of Wonder- The Complete Goldberg Variations
(1955 & 1981) Disc 1-25-Goldberg Variations, BWV 988- Variation 24- Canon On
The Octave.wma

at the destination the resulting file is named:
K:\M\Glenn Gould\A State of Wonder- The Complete Goldberg Variations (1955 &
1981) Disc 1\GL29AB~1.WMA

If I open the properties for this file and look in the Summary tab the
Title: is
Goldberg Variations, BWV 988: Variation 24: Canon On The Octave so I know
that this is the same file in the originating folder.

File sizes are the same as is the creation date for the file.

Does anyone have any ideas why this file is not maintaining the original
file name?

thanks
Dhiren

As a side note, I ran EMC Retrospect and ran a duplicate process, and the
resulting copy had the correct full file names.

I had a similar experience with SyncToy 1 - it complained that filenames
were too long.
I think in my case it was because the receiving folder had a longer name
than the originating folder (D:\Steves\Audio -> E:\Backups\Steves\Audio)
and some arbitrary or filesystem (NTFS in both cases) limit was being
reached.

I worked around this problem by using shorter/simpler filenames for my
music, relying on the ID3 tags for the full descriptions.

Thanks, I had the same thought which is why I used the exact same path name
on both sides.

I went back to EMC Retrospect 7.5 which came with my drive and its duplicate
function worked as one would have expected.
