syncservicesbasic.exe

My computer has been running very slow lately and I took a lok at Task
Manager and see that the process syncservicesbasic.exe is taking up
whatever CPU is left over so that I am constantly at 100% CPU usage.
I could not find any description of syncservicesbasic.exe on the
internet.

Ending that process seems to do the trick, lowering the CPU usage to a
normal level. However, how do I disable that process from starting
permanently? I do not know what service this process is tied to.

Thank you!

Your first priority should be to clean your computer of any possible malware. A
slow computer that has a program running that is not listed in a Google search
is a good indication that your system is infected. Here's a web site with good
advice that you may find helpful.

If you want to do some detective work on your own, search your computer for
syncservicesbasic.exe. Finding where it's stored could give you a clue as to how
it got on your system.

Here's a program from Microsoft that will help you stop this program from
loading at startup.

AutoRuns for Windows v9.13
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Once you've downloaded and extracted the files, run autoruns.exe. Look on the
Everything tab for an entry that lists syncservicesbasic.exe in the Image path
column. Uncheck this item and restart your computer. Check Task Manager to see
what's running now. It's possible that you will see a newly created program with
a slightly different name causing the original problem.

While we're on the subject, Microsoft offers a program that you may find useful
when investigating running processes.

Process Explorer v11.11
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Note: If you right click an entry, you can select "Search online" to find more
info on the item. This feature is also available in Autoruns.

Good luck
