My XP Pro clock dialog uses tick.usno.navy.mil to synch, but it looks like
it does this about once a week. I don't see anyway to change that. Is there?

Yes.

Four points:

1. Read here for info on how to change the default of once a week:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kb...gistryTips/Network/XPTimeSynchronization.html

2. You can also synchronize it manually whenever you want to.

3. There are several third-party clock programs, such as tclock, that
let you set the interval to whatever you want.

4. Despite the four points above, for most people, once a week is more
than sufficient and keeps the clock accurate enough.

It probably is on this machine, but I have another one that uses W2K where
twice a day would be useful. I'm thinking of upgrading it to XP. However, do
the suggestions offered here apply to W2K, as well?

I was just going to ask about #2, and decided to try the Update Now button
on Date and Time. It worked. Last night it didn't seem to work at all. It
might have worked on the last of several tries though. I obviously can see
that I did get it to work.

Numbers 2 and 3 do. I think number 1 does too, but I'm not 100% sure.
