Synchronized Sound on PowerPoint Yet?

Hi,

I currently use Macromedia Director to produce continuing medica
education programs on CD and "MTX" for my online programs. I woul
really prefer to use PowerPoint online. Here's what I would need it t
do:

1. Automatically transition to the next slide when the sound is don
playing.

2. Have a "Pause" button that would stop the sound in place whe
clicked and start back where it left off when clicked again.

3. Have "previous" and "next" that when clicked by the user woul
automatically go forward or back, automatically starting and stoppin
(rewinding) the sound for that slide.

Although I've used PPT for years and love it, I wasn't sure if it ha
evolved enough to do what I would like for it to do. I currently us
PPT files online for "supplemental materials" but would like to do th
whole program in it.

Is this do-able???? If so, could someone just point me in the righ
direction???

Thanks,

Hello Maggie,

All of these are possible in PowerPoint 2002 and 2003.

Actually the first one is possible at least as far back as PowerPoint 97.
Simply make sure that slide transition timing for the slide containing the
sound file is shorter than the duration of the sound that is playing
automatically and, by default, the slide will automatically transition to
the next slide when the sound is done playing (as long as there is nothing
else on the slide that need to be animated as well)

For your 2nd and 3rd questions, each of these are possible in PowerPoint
2002 and 2003 by using the new "Trigger" custom animation feature. For
sound files there are three kinds of "Sound Actions": Play, Pause and Stop.
By "triggering" these effects when you click on buttons (shapes) for Play
from beginning, Pause/Resume and Stop you get the the behavior you are
looking for. It also works for movies.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint
additional features for controlling media playback, don't forget to send
your feedback to Microsoft at:
