synchronization errors... still

J

J.D.

I posted this yesterday, but left out some info:

My XP machines are showing synchronization errors. They
are trying to connect to a server that I no longer have.
How do I tell the machine to quit trying to connect?

My 2000 machines gave the error message once and gave me
the option to "do not reconntet." Now they work fine.

NEW INFO: It is not a drive that is mapped. I changed
the mapping of the teachers' my documents folder. They
were first mapped to server A. I got rid of that
server. They are now mapped to server B. The machines
still want to sync up with server A.

I am not an expert on this, but I have found artifacts in
my workgroup that are persisted in the registry under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\currentVersio
n\Explorer\WorkgroupCrawler\Shares\(various keys). You
can find them for each user by doing a find in regedit,
looking for the names they have. Delete each entire key
(below the "share" key) when they appear. If the shares
are valid, they will return anyway.
