Synchronied Combo Boxes

I have 4 synchronized combo boxes. If I enter information
in 1st combo box, what code is needed so someone can't
save the record without the other fields filled in. I
tried the required property of yes in the table. After I
click on the first combo box, I get an error message that
the second combo box can't be empyty and so on. I get
this message without trying to save the record.
