"synchost.exe has caused an error etc. etc.

Oct.7, 2003 started getting a pop-up error
message : "synchost.exe has created an error. Windows is
shutting down the program. An error log is being created"
This pesky thing dis-ables my internet log-off,
disables print commands and can only be gotten rid of by
re-booting the computer. It only happens when I am on the
internet, never when running Outlook Express. It has
lately also started involving other "hosts" such as my
Adobe Acrobat program.
My event log looks like all volumes of the
Encyclopedia Britannica in longhand. Can anyone help me??

You've got a problem with one of your NT services. Each instance of
svchost.exe can comprise several NT services. The event viewer might
show which.

You've probably got Blaster worm.

You need at least SP2 and KB824146 installed to prevent re-infection and
a removal tool to clean the worm off your system:
