Synching Outlook Appointments w/ Mobile 5 Calendar

I'm having a problem retaining formatting when synchronizing
appointment items from the Windows Mobile 5 calendar to desktop
Outlook. When an appointment item is created on a Mobile 5 device and
a link is created in the Notes field (say using mailto:), when the
appointment is synchronized to Outlook on the desktop, the link is
removed just leaving the text (still has the mailto:, but it's not
"clickable"). Then if the appointment item changes and synchs back to
the mobile device, the link is removed from that copy as well.

On the other hand, if the appointment is created within Outlook on the
desktop and a link (again using mailto:) is created within the notes,
the link survives any future round trips via activesync regardless of
on which end changes are made to the appointment item.

Does anyone know what might be causing this and if there is a
work-around or fix? I'm using Outlook 2003 on the desktop.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Update: Links created on the Outlook side DO NOT survive the synch to
the Mobile 5 calendar - they are still underlined and in the blue font,
so they look intact, but the link is dead.
