Sygate

I was wondering if anyone has heard if Sygate is going to
make their firewall recognizable to xp sp2. I can not find
anything on their web site. Or am I overlooking it?

They have issued a 'new' buld since SP2 was released and that didn't entail
any integration with SP2 so I suppose they don't intend to. I don't see
that that makes any difference as the program includes an self update
feature. I use NOD32 as an AVP and the latest version of that integrates
with SP2 but the integration only involves an advice if the program becomes
out of date. As NOD32 also has a self update feature as far as I can see
the integartion with SP2 amounts to nothing.

What exactly do you mean by 'recognisable to sp2'? I am running sygate
firewall (there is a new upgrade by the way) and it runs fine on xp
professional with sp2 installed. It also ran perfectly well before the
latest sygate upgrade patch was applied.

I mean recognizable to the security center. I keep getting
warnings that I have no firewall. Like I did before I got
the Norton 2004 patch. I have tried checking that I have a
firewall and tried telling it not to alert me. It is no
big deal I was just curious. I have 5.5 2710

Have you opened up the security center in control panel and disabled the
alert feature for the firewall? In security center look on the left of the
window and you will see a list of options. At the bottom you will see an
option 'change the way the security center alerts me' Remove the check mark
from the firewall option. The alert will then disappear. My security center
also states that I have no firewall, but you and I both no different, don't
we:) I think it is Microsoft that needs to integrate the sygate firewall
into the security center not sygate. The same problem occurred in the beta
program of SP2 with the AVG anti virus. Until Microsoft made the necessary
changes AVG wasn't recognised

John,
I have tried it both ways in security center. But it only
pops up when I re start. I am not complaining it is no big
deal. Sygate works great before and after sp2. That is the
only glitch I had on three machines one xp pro and an xp
both with Sygate. The only thing that made me ask was when
I first installed sp2 Norton 2004 had to add WMI update to
get it to work properly. It is probally not the same thing.

Thanks for everybody's reply, Sammy Castagna
