Switching Languages taskbar won't show up

On my new computer (Toshiba Satellite Pro running XP), I have tried to add
two extra keyboard layouts, for US English and Swedish.

I do this routinely on XP computers and usually have no difficulty -- the
Control Panel -> Regional and Language panel usually gets it working.

And in fact, I can switch between the three language layouts using
Shift-Alt, as usual.

But on this computer I CAN'T see the small "EN" box on the taskbar that I'm
used to, and so I don't know what layout I'm using. I've tried following the
help instructions but I've done everything as specified and the box just
doesn't appear.

Restarting didn't help either.

How can I make the language box appear when it doesn't want to?

hi steve
i guess i can help you
okk do try this
control panel>Regional and language options>Languages>Text services
and input languages>Details...>Settings>Language bar...>select show
the language bar on the desktop, show additional language bar icons in
the taskbar, show text labels on the language bar.>click OK>OK>apply>OK

Thanks, Happy.

I was about to say that that was just what I've been doing, but I decided to
give it another go anyway.

I did one thing differently, though. Just before clicking the checkbox on,
I switched to highlight one of the NEW layouts (Swedish) instead of the
original one (UK English). Other than that I followed your directions
exactly.

Amazingly, it worked.

Thanks
Steve
