Switchboard won't load - Method 'Connection' of Object '_currentpr

Already tried everything in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306132/en-us#top

Installing MDAC updates did NOT work. Running MS Access 2000 with all
latest updates. Even tried uninstalling/reinstalling, upgrading to Access
2002, etc. Multiple mdb files experience the same problem - switchboard will
not load. Please help! Thanks!

The solution, which in this case might seem a bit extreme, is linked to
at the end of the thread, but if everything else is tried...
