My file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\svchost.exe is infected with
the Backdoor.IRC.RPCBot.D virus. Everything I have tried
so far has not worked. I have ran NAV and it states that
it is unable to eliminate the virus. I tried
to do a LIVE UPDATE to update the definitions and that
did not work. I also followed the instructions given
(i.e. 1. Turn off system restore; 2. update virus
definitions; 3. Rerun NAV. I have also tried Stinger and
that has also not worked.

What would happen if I simply deleted the svchost.exe
file? Is this possible? Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks,
James

Try these:
Go to symantec website and search to see if they have any
removal tool.
Run an online virus scan and see if the online version
will remove it.
Try rebooting into safemode and doing what you have done
already.

Is safe mode when you turn the system restore off? If
so, I have already done that. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
James
