svchost question

Hi

I've noticed that svchost.exe is running simultaneously up to four
times on my system. Is this right?

Is there any list or way to see which processes belong to WindowsXP?
I'm asking because I suspect that unwanted/bad processes are eating
resources.

These are run by XP as and when needed.

The only way to reduce them is to stop the associated service from running -
unless you know what you are doing in this area I'd leave well alone.

You can get a lot of information about running processes with the free
utility Process Explorer from
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml
