svchost question

i was just wondering when you go on task manager on xp i seem to have alot
of svchost running, i know that you need a few but how many need to be
there.

i was thinking a might have a virus taking up all my resouces

Go to Microsoft's support site at http://support.microsoft.com/.
Click Advanced Search and search on "svchost" for Windows 2000 or XP.
You'll find a KB article titled, "Description of Svchost.exe in Windows
2000".
