I'm working on a computer that won't stay connected to the
internet. I've done many things to try and remedy this
problem. I've optimized IE, Optimized the Modem,
Reinstalled the Modem Drivers, Changed acess numbers, ran
the "netsh int ip reset all" command. I've run regsvr32 on
two dll's (softpub.dll and wintrust.dll). After I tried
all this I went into the the Task Manager and ended all
applications and non-essential processes. Except for one
that I couldn't get to end. It was the svchost.exe there
was four or five instances of it running at once and
whewnever I closed one another one would re-open. I did a
little resarch on symantec.com on the svchost to see if it
was an indication of a virus (like AOL;). I came up with
this big long list of viruses. I was hooping some one
could give some feed back on what the svchost.exe is and
if it is a virus or not.

PS I don't know if someone responds to this if it will
e-mail me or not if it doesn't would be so kind as to send
a copy of you r reply to my e-mail address

svchost is supposed to be on there, I have 6 or 7 svchost files running on
my machine... That isn't a virus...

However, if you cannot stay connected to the internet sounds like the
blaster worm. Download the fix and the patch!

You can find the fix here:-
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.welchia.worm.rem
oval.tool.html
and patch here:

Good luck
