SVCHOST.EXE

After doing a clean install (reformatted HD), and
installing windows 2000 Pro I am now getting an
svchost.exe error message. I get it most of the time when
I access the internet. and some times when I am not on
the internet. Please help

You will have to be a bit more specific with the error that you are getting.

getting svchost.exe generated error and will close.
message after opening iexplore and being on the internet
for a few minutes

That doesn't help. We need to know the error code in the error message.

Did you try reinstalling IE?

Sounds like a worm. Look in %sysdir%\system32\wins If there is a SVCHOST.EXE
there, there shouldn't be . Basically the worm puts a false version of
svchost.exe on your machine, you need to run anti-virus whilst the machine
is NOT connected to the net. Look up info on blaster etc
