SVCHOST.exe - multiple operations

Keep hearing Hard Drive grind & when I check Task Manager, I see 6
SVCHOST.exe running simultaneously - hogging up a lot of memory. How can I
clean up which programs ?

Several SVCHOST.exe may be running at the same time this is normal.
What do you call a lot of memory? Some Viruses my use a similar name as
SVCHOST.exe Have you scanned for vieuses lately?
Hard drive grinding doesn't sound too good maybe it's starting to fail?

Yes I have scanned recently.
Grinding would be better described as accessing the hard-drive for a long
time.
