I keep getting an error message about svchost.exe and
windows closing it. It also seems after I get this message
I can not copy and paste things, nor can I drag and drop files.

i am house sitting on a cable internet connection and I
don't seem to be getting the error.

I am running W2K, SP3, sharing a dial-up connection to the
internet.

any help would be great,
Thanks,
Ian

Download and execute the McAfee worm removal tool, Stinger http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/
And post back your results.

It is ONLY a utility and does not need to be installed so yes...It will coexist with
NAV/SAV.

| I am using Norton will this still work?

Ive had this problem as well, its like a fake virus or
trojan that infects that part of windows, similiar to
mblast virus. It infects the system toolbar etc settings
and is hard to get rid off. A trojan\spyware etc virus
scanner shoild sort it out. Ive not tried this but Ive
heard about it, the file syshost is the system taskbar
file name, and it has an extra ext like this
c:\winnt\system32\svchost.exe.vir,but if you try and
delete the extra ext, it will corrupt the rest of the file
It would to be safer download a trojan etc scanner from
www.tucows.com. And to be on the safe side, if your in the
UK and using broadband, disconnect from that while you do
the scan
