svchost.exe error

i have windows xp professional sp2. for the last two days, i have been
recieving this error message " generic host processes for svchost.exe were
terminated unexpectedly." the details about the error in event viewer are:
version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown, fault address 0x00000000.
kindly help regarding this error message. my computer is regularly updated
using windows updates, and there are no known viruses, or worms, or any
spyware on my comp. thanks.
