svchost.exe error

svchost.exe error at startup; cleaned Blast using Norton restarted ok; after a while svchost.exe error again on.Starting in safe mode or "best known configuration" also solved, but only for a while. Unable to open msconfig. Norton now unable to find any other Blast infection. Any suggestion to avoid reformat

Disregard about msconfig, dealing with both 2k, w98 and XP got confused. Thanks
 
Copy and Run Tlist--found in your Win 2K installation CD--
from your hard drive.

You will see the list of programs in that svchost.exe.
Delete--delete--delete program under that. There is no
way to know which one is specifically messing up the
system but you'll eventually get it.
