svchost.exe and RPC

I have been having problems with svchost.exe (Network Service) which is
linked to rpcss.dll. It starts to take up CPU usage slowly and gets worse
the longer the computer is on. Then it gets really annoying by jumping
anywhere from 15-80 CPU Usage constantly. It is never idle unless it's right
when I turn the computer on. This causes constant hitches in games. The
memory usage also slowly increases. I've had it go all the way up to 200MB
many times. I also get the message that I need to shutdown in 1 minute due
to RPC being terminated. This happens most of the time when I disconnect
from a wireless network or repair it. I've also come back to my computer
after a few hours and have noticed it has restarted while I was away. I am
on a college campus wireless network and we are required to have Cisco Clean
Access Agent. Thanks for any help!

I forgot to mention that I have Windows XP Professional with the latest
updates. I have also virus scanned multiple times with different antiviruses
and checked for spyware with many different programs.
