I get a problem when I try to install the Sus Client program to our Win 2K
and WinXP Workstation.
even the system is new installed. When I double- click the file
(WUAU22cht.msi) which is downloaded from microsoft web site. the Message "
Microsoft Windows Update Auto Update requires Windoes 200 SP2 or Windows
XP" will be popup and The installation is terminated.
I don't know why I can't use this service even using windows 2000 and

Pls Help me to solve this problem.

Hi there

The SUS client is built in to Windows 2000 SP3 and above and Windows XP SP1
and above. The client download is there for you to be able to apply
hotfixes to systems where there's some issue preventing you from deploying
the latest service packs. Hopefully that doesn't apply to you

If your system already has one of these SPs, you don't need the client
download..

You will just need to use the group policy template for SUS to configure the
clients to point to your SUS server.

FYI, there is also a newsgroup dedicated to SUS:
microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

Oli

Dear Oli,

Thanks for your reply.
But Can you tell me how to configure the group policy.

Thanks

Hi

For details, see chapter "Configuring the Automatic Updates client software"
in the "Software Update Services Deployment White Paper" downloadable
from here:

Fyi, there is a separate newsgroup for SUS:

microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

URL to the group softwareupdatesvcs for those who uses the Web
interface to access the newsgroups:
