Looked out of my Window to see the unmistakable shape of XH558 on Sunday so took a bimble down to the airport to discover Marshall's Aerospace were having a private employees only bash.

Sat on the perimeter fence with the trusty D90 and 70-300mm.

As I was on the fence, aircraft were flying directly overhead at about 20 feet - none of this not being able to fly over the crowd lark from where I was! Most notably the Lancaster!

In all honesty it put many other "official" air shows to shame!

See attached.

Wow... great pics Chris. Thanks for posting them!

My 2 all time favourite aircraft were there, and I've never seen them flying before - the Vampire and Vulcan. Mind you, I was confused why you said XH558 as I thougth that pic looked like the Vulcan - now I see that's the restored ones serial... doh, shows how much I know!

Sorry - yeah, thats its registration.

I'm lucky enough to have seen it fly at Farnborough, Dunsfold and now Marshall's :)

I don't think I've ever seen a vampire fly so that was good too - it turns quite tight, one thing I noticed!

Vulcan is always a good show - it makes an amazing noise.

>> here is a clip someone put on youtube from the Cambridge display on Sunday :)

Great pix Chris, love the Lancaster pix.

I saw the Vulcan fly on Sunday at Goodwood Revival meeting, quite incredible.

It seemed to be incredibly slow and extremely noisy.

Quite a spectacle.

Unfortunately didn't get any pix as I left camera with main mob whilst getting something to eat when the Vulcan flew.

But where I was munching pie & mash, the Vulcan flew directly ahead over us. Awesome.

Again - very good pix :)

Those shots of the Vampire and Meteor bring back memories. When I was a kid I lived very near an RAF station where those two were present in large numbers (shows my age :D ).

I got close to a Lancaster a few years back and was amazed how small it was. I guess we have got so used to Jumbo size planes.

Great pics. :thumb:

I just use Picasa (by google) it's free and easy to use. I don't use anything posh!

Abarbarian - please post your pics!
