Windows and Linux are not competitors. Each have their good and bad
points. Many of us, myself included, use more than one operating
system. What have you got against that?

Yep, same here.

It's even funnier, in a pathetic sort of way, to watch people like you
ignore reality.

LOL!

There will be no fighting- this group will need Mike, you, all of us..
it's about to get busy up in here.

Here's to a successful launch, and may we be able to help smooth
out any rough edges that transition my cause for others.

Take care,

Michael

Never said there wasn't. I use XP Pro every day.

What's more to the point is should Hollwood dictate to the average PC
user how he/she uses legally-purchased software/media?

I already made my decision. I will keep my XP, but will continue to dual
boot with PCLINUXOS. I am trying out the TR3. It is a beta, but it is
much smoother than any MS betas or even their RTM releases. You can use
various 3d desktops, but I still prefer my 10 desktops with a program,
running on each. The OS is very fast, even faster than XP and all I had
to do was download the iso and burn the cd. Yes, it still takes only a
cd. The total install time was less than 30 minutes. I checked out
whether my wireless usb would work first, when I was in the Live CD. It
did and so I went ahead with the installation. I am now downloading many
of the free programs that are available in the archives...using
synaptic. The dual boot program correctly guessed where my Windows
installation was located and did not interfere with it. I notice that
the startup times are faster than in previous versions. I like being
able to see what the OS is doing, so I press the escape key to watch.
After using Linux, I get bored with Windows starting and shutting
down...there is nothing to read...lol. If you have any problems with
your installation, you can contact some of the authors of this distro, by
firing up xchat. It will bring you right to the appropriate chat rooms,
where you can ask question. It sure beats chatting with some one in
India who may or may not speak intelligible English, or rolling off a
bunch of numbers, because your activation failed.

I can see big improvements in the 6 months, since I installed the
previous version of PCLINUXOS. It didnt take them five years and
billions of dollars and I had a very good OS to use in the meantime.

Geez - the more I use it, I'm starting to I hate Vista with a passion !!!
- its definitely not yet ready for business.

Send it back to the lab for another 12 mths - too slow and too dificult to
work with !

I'd really MUCH prefer to work with XP-Pro,
but our company has standardized on Vista Business - evidently 12 mths too
early

Please urgently bring an optional 'XP-Pro desktop' look and feel to Vista
Business.

Am rather tired of having to waste time finding-out how to do things that
took mere seconds in XP-Pro - e.g. View-Refresh and
Tools-Options-View-ApplyToAllFolders

Was the problem not the same on the launch of XP? We all had to relearn how
to do things?

Cheers and happy Vistaing!!!!!!

This is typical response to ANY version of Windows simply because
Microsoft doesn't know how to write good software.

Let me shine the cold hard light of reality on this clueless newsgroup
where the default position of many is to stick their heads in the sand
or just holding their hands over their eyes so they can't see.

People don't love Windows. Hell man, few even like it. Most HATE
Windows, many indeed with a passion due to all the misery and lost
time it causes and only use it because of their considerable
investment in Windows software.

Of course anytime anybody tells the twits the truth assorted creeps
will squeal all software has bugs or the pathetic claim they don't
know what they're talking about. Well I Do know and I'm telling you
Windows is crap, always was crap and always will be.

That is absolutely the key to why I continue to use Windows.

I would switch in an instant if there was another OS that could run the
software I have.
