support for 250G hard drive

Yes, I believe it does. The proper model and size show up
in the BIOS. It's an Athlon 2600 chip and m-bd. I guess
my version of XP is older and doesn't support this size.
I've ordered a new version from the net. I hope that will
work. Thx for the reply.

Yes, Windows XP does support 250GB hard drives when SP1 is installed.
The question is, does your "motherboard" support a 250GB hard drive?

Your older version does not contain SP1. I do believe that if you were to
install SP1, the full capacity of the hard drive should be available.

Just because BIOS shows the drive properly does not mean it supports it. There is no need to order a new version of XP as there is
no newer version, all you need to do is install SP1 from Windows Update
