Not all superscript numbers are available as characters (in a font).
Instead, type the number you want and then format it as superscript by
applying font formatting. If you create a character style, the task will
be even easier.
Thank you, I should have been more specific with my original question. I'd
normally set up styles/use superscript functions etc., but these documents
will be accessed/amended by multi-users (who don't understand styles) and
probably brought into Powerpoint (where styles won't work).
Some fonts (such as Arial Unicode MS) contain superscripted numerals 0 and
4-9 in the Superscripts and Subscripts character subset (U2070 and
U2074-2079), but these are likely to cause even more problems unless you
insert them as protected Symbol fields.

The (v. large) company I work for has its own font which doesn't have the
relevant numbers but I've managed to create the (individual) macros now.
