Superfetch Is there a solution for it yet? Cannot stop or disabl

I have spent the past 3 hours with the manufacturer of my computer, and
totally messed up the computer, now it will not shut down. I keep getting
the error message that Superfetch has stopped working. We installed the new
drivers for Graphics device, and the problem is still there. Went to start,
run, typed in services.cmd and tried to change it to start, stop, disabled,
none of them worked, even clicked on the properties and it still did not fix
it. Waiting almost an hour for the computer to shut down, and it is still
saying it is logging off. The last time I did a hard shut down, by holding
the button in, is where this problem started. There has to be an answer for
this somewhere? Why isn't Microsoft telling us more about this, all I can
find out is that it makes your programs come up faster. HA! However, when it
stops working, it sure does mess things up. I have Vista Home Premium on
that computer, which came installed on it.

I looked into it, however, Vista will not let me run the sfc and I am not
about to do a restore. Too much stuff on the computer. I did however,
manage to disable it, by going into safe mode, and then run, typed
services.msc, found superfetch, right clicked on it, selected properties, and
in the dropdown file chose disable. That should be an end to it until
Microsoft finds a cure for SUPERFETCH. What a mess this has been everything
from the computer getting stuck in logging off, to having the screen
resolution change to larger icons, much like SAFE MODE. I am sure hoping
that this is the end of this problem and that no new ones crop up because I
managed to disable SUPERFETCH.
Thank you for taking the time to try and help. Hope this solution helps
someone. : )
