Hi all,
In SUPERAntiSpyware Control Center under 'Repairs' tab it is suggested to
repair/restore a broken Network Connection that is caused by a corrupt
WinSock LSP Chain (Windows XP).
Is it safe to repair as recommended?
Should I create a restore point prior repair?
Advice is much appreciated.
TIA.

I don't know what that utility does, but here is how you repair the Winsock.

Repair/Reset Winsock settings:

And yes, a complete registry backup (or a System Restore point) is
advisable.

Take a complete registry backup using ERUNT:

Hello,

We (SUPERAntiSpyware) resets the WinSock chain to the default state and
removes any "broken" WinSock Components. You should not need to create
a restore point before, although, you can certainly do that for
"safety".

I'm not familiar with SuperAntiSpyware. Resetting the Winsock LSP chain
could cause problems with some prorgams like antivirus, firewall, other
antispyware, and possibly more. Some malware also installs itself into the
LSP chain and when removed causes networking to quit working. If you are not
experienceing any problems with networking (e.g. Internet access) then don't
run this. It could cause problems with other programs.

Performed the repair and everything worked out fine. Thanks for a great
product.

I experienced Internet access problems; Based on advise received from
nskrepetos I performed repair and (touch wood) all is well. SUPERAntiSpyware
is a pretty good and versatile application.
