summing a field

Hi All

I have done a simple sum over about 750000 records and get results like
3.12648E-08. When i put this into excel and format as a number it shows as
0.00. Why doesnt Access show 0.00? The format of the value field Im summing
is double auto integer. Not sure about my singles and doubles as to what that
field should be if indeed that is the issue.
Thanks

In Excel change the format of the cell to number and however many decimal
places you want. In Access you also have to set the format for the display
you want.
The number 3.12648E-08 is scientific display for 0.0000000312648 decimal.

Sorry Karl

The issue is not in excel but how to tell access to show the result as 0.00
and not this scientific value. The result is a result of the query and i dont
know how to tell Access to display the sum of a field as a number and not
anything else. The field its summing is number format so I assumed that
Access would show the result as number too?

Cheers

You need to set the format of Access where you are displaying the output -
query, form, or report.
To set the format of a query output click at the top of the output field to
highlight the column. Then click on menu VIEW - Properties and set the format.
