sumif formula

Hi

I am trying to use sumif formula like the following for a crosstab
=SUM(IF($E3&F$2=Dates&Categories,Amounts)) and for some reason it'
not working. I was working off examples that I received from excel vb
course. The criteria doesn't seem to be sorting it out.

I have sent the example as soon as you enter (f2 & enter) into the cel
a different number calculates.

Please help

and for some reason it's not working.

Seems ok to me. Perhaps ..

The formula is an array formula and needs to be
array-entered (i.e. Press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER)
instead of just pressing ENTER

This has to be done each time the formula is entered or edited

Excel will then wrap curly braces { } around the formula, viz.:
{=SUM(IF($E3&F$2=Dates&Categories,Amounts))}
