sum up 2 different columns

=D5-SUM(D6:D92,H6:H92) i thought worked but i guess it doesn't cant anyone
help me
 
Don't know what version of Excel you are using. I have 2003, put your formula
in pretty much exactly and it worked just fine. Here is mine.
=A14-SUM(A2:A11,B2:B11)
 
i'm running 2002 i think. but for some reason my formula won't work anymore.
got any suggestions
 
What doesn't work? Does it give you the wrong total, or are you
getting error messages?
 
worng totals, first column works fine but when i add or subract an amount
form the second column the total doen't change

Perhaps second column numbers are Text.

Format an empty cell as General.

Copy the cell and select your range of "numbers".

Paste Special>Add>OK>Esc.

Results are correct??
