Sum Function Always Returns "0"

Hi,

Occasionally I hit the problem with worksheets where when
summing the result is always zero.

I can overcome this by making the cell active and then
exiting the cell.

Initially I thought it may be formatting but re-formatting
to numbers etc. did not help, also tried cut and paste but
to no avail.

Unfortunately the spreadsheets are getting bigger so the
problem is increasing and any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Edit|Copy an empty cell.
select your offending range
edit|paste special|check Add

And your text numbers will be number numbers.
