Hi Folks,

Anyone know the location of a free prog. which will create and help
solve Sudoku problems?

Thanks in anticipation,

Ken

I like the version because there is a good 'help' section. Nice program;
enjoy

It was my preferred too.
Unfortunately I had to uninstall it because since the last 2 versions my
CPU jumps to 90% usage (XP Pro SP2, 3 GHz, 1 MB Ram).
Does it run smooth in your PC?

To MLC:

Uses very little memory (2 MB), measured on FreeRam XP Pro memory manager.
Wonder why your computer takes such a big hit.

I run an XP 1.2gb AMD Duron with 512mb memory & 180gb HD

I also noticed that and was puzzled by it for a few weeks (pun intended).
Later I found the explanation in the Help file (see Introduction).

"Important note on CPU usage:

When Simple Sudoku is run for the first time it needs to build a small
repository of puzzles so they are ready for instant use (because making
puzzles, especially the 'extreme' ones, can take several minutes). All this
happens in a low priority background thread, so it should have minimal
impact on other applications and on Simple Sudoku itself. Once a store of
~12 puzzles has been made your CPU will return to it's normal state. (It
takes about 5-10 mins on an average PC to build a complete puzzle
repository.) Also, once the repository has been built, making new puzzles to
replace those that are taken out of the repository places a much smaller
load on the CPU."

I have no problem with it. CPU usage is allways visible in my tray (thanks
to SysInfoMyWork). When Simple Sudoku is busy rebuilding the repository then
it stays nicely responsive, but during that time if I want to generate a new
puzzle I just wait till it's finished.

That explains it, thanks a lot!
I'll install it again, I love this game.

Just a general question here...I use a program daily that virtually takes
over my CPU when in use. It's c4u, a web site checking program. It
doesn't register as spyware on Spybot, but it does seem to have a heavy
processing load, as seen in Filemon. My question--.is a program like this
harmful to your computer? Will it shorten the CPU life?
