Sudden and unexpected closing of Word2003

Editing a wordfile file makes the proram close without a warning.
The starngest thing with this is that on other systems the same document can
be edited without problems whatsoever.

This started happening, after having applied SP1 for Office2003 with a few
of my documents. A lot of them I am able to open and work in and quiet a few
when I try opening the document or even adding a new line, it finishes
immediately.
I looked at all the comments given on the different questions asked but they
seem not to be relevant. They refer to the older versions of word.
I'm living with this problem for over 7 weeks and can't find a solution.
I did uninstall the words2003 and reinstalled it. No luck.
I went as far as to uninstall Office2003 and reinstall idem dito.
I finally decided to install Perfect ProOffice to see wether I could read
the documents and that went perfectly OK.
After saving the document in the older format NOT the Perfect ProOffice
format, I was able to open the document again in word2003.
After editing the document and saving it again, I again encountered the same
problem.
I can create new documents without problems but at one point in time I will
get that the program may abort and my document will not be able to be opened
by Word2003.
This is a real problem.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks

Do I have to conclude that this is a Mircosoft Windows2000 issue ?
Why can I run it on another system without problems
I would welcome your reaction.
