Subwebs

I created a subweb and now would like to replace the root
web with the subweb. Is there an easy way to do that and
keep the integrity of the links..ie the links would not
look to the subweb for the files. My initial thought is to
delete all the files in the root and replace them with the
files in the subweb...Any help would be appreciated...
 
Delete all of the files in the root web from within FP, and then publish the
subweb to the root web.
