Subtotals

When using Subtotals, the buttons (1,2,3...) for easy access to row
level detail are not appearing. I don't know why this is; wondering if
there is a setting turned off that I don't know about? Has anyone
experienced this before?

Go Tools / Options, then on the View tab, in the Window Options
section, click on Outline Symbols.
