subtotals give zero

Hello All
I have a sheet using autofilter and subtotals.
The user has requested the list from a column filter is controlled from
checkboxes on the ribbon matching the items in the filter list. And, the
subtotal rowlevels are controlled from buttons on the ribbon too.
All works well at rowlevel 3, but rowlevel 1 or 2 the subtotal values are
zero.
I'm guessing that the coded filtering is interfering with the Excel
subtotaling but i cannot find how to get round it.
Can anyone help
Thanks

Are you using Data Tab|Outline Group|Group?

If yes, then this doesn't work well with autofilter. Hiding the rows either way
will affect the =subtotal() results.

You'll have to make a choice which one to keep. (I like to keep autofilter.)

If you're not using Grouping, then double check that the "numbers" that should
be added are really numbers--not text that look like numbers.

I'd check the format AND reenter the values. Just changing the format is not
enough!

Hi Dave

I'm going back to the drawing board with this. From what you have said I
have some other ideas that may work for me.

Thanks
