Subtotal Not Working - Over 64000 Rows

We are having a problem using the Subtotal function with a worksheet that has well over 64000 rows
The function does not return the correct results when used for over 64000 rows
Is there a workaround

Works OK for me up to 65536 rows (max number of rows for excel)

works for me. What exact formula do you use and what kind of 'wrong'
result is returned

We have come up with our own workaround. The Subtotal(1,k2:k65136) was running out of space. The data has been split (after sorting) onto two worksheets
