Substitute truetype font for postscript font

Hi - we have a template that uses a postscript font, which is necessary for the production end of things, and the production people all have the postscript version of the font installed on their computers. But the people who actually create the documents have the truetype version of the font installed (and it has to stay that way). One would think that the truetype version would automatcally be substituted for the postscript version but Word is substituting Time New Roman which changes the layout of the document rather substantially. Is there any way for each person to permanently assign the truetype font to substitute for the postscript font? Going into font substitution each time is not very efficient. Thanks.

If you are lucky your users will have a font substitution table for
their printer. On mine it is on the Device Settings tab of the Printer
Properties dialog in Windows (not Word).
