Create a folder, then right click, and select convert to subsite (A.KA. Subweb)

You web host must also support these.

You must have a web / site open, and you must have option under Authoring set to use the FP
extensions / SharePoint.

Doesn't matter, you must have a web or site open first. When you start FP, you must use File Menu |
Open web / site before working or creating any content within your web. Also all images must be
imported into this open web / site prior to using.

Having same problem. Have created new folder, converted to website. Need to
move existing pages into that new subsite. Before I do anything drastic and
lose a lot of work, what do I do , and how do I know I have done it
correctly. Right now I am not even given the option to rename the new folder.

Publish the current root site to the subsite and then delete the content you don't need.

or

Convert the subsite back to a folder, then drag in your content that needs to be there, then convert
back to a subsite.

I began doing that and dragged one page into the new folder successfully.
The other three will not drag. Also, all links are gone. I expect this is
normal? I must re-insert all graphics and links? The theme transferred
successfully.

Navigation and themes do not work across subwebs/subsites, so your will need to re-create/re-apply.
Subwebs/Subsites are completely independent sites under a FP root or another subweb.

Is there a place to get walkthrough phone support? Created folder, dragged
one page over. Others would not go. Tried to rename new folder to the
subsite name. Could not do so. This and navigations buttons are keeping
me from finishing the site and publishing it to the server.

Not unless you had it publish to another location as a backup.

How did you delete the root web, as FP doesn't allow you to delete a web that you current have
opened.

Recycle Bin?
FP doesn't send deleted pages or webs to the Recycle Bin, are you sure you created a Web/Site?

It doesn't? I thought that was the only way *to* delete a local web.

The problem is that I don't know how I deleted it. I think I tried to delete
the new folders because I was getting redundant with them: one named new
folder, another with the subsite name. Trying to get the subsite pages into
one folder. Deleted something in there, and the whole thing went. Yep, it
allowed me to delete it. Fortunately, the recycle bin caught it.
I am in over my head with both the navigation buttons and the subsites.
Willing to pay at this point for phone support--if I can get a technician
that speaks clearly and KNOWS Frontpage and can help with these two things.
I really want to get this page on the web. We have a current page on a
server, and it is active, but the host is charging us $840 a year to maintain
it. So I am rebuilding the site on my workstation and want to upload it to a
different server, whose services I have already purchased, so I am paying
double right now. There are two major areas of content: the real estate and
the hereford ranch. About to give up on the subsite.
