Help, some of my sub-folders in the My Documents folder
have disappeared. I am running Windows XP Professional, and
I checked the properties and made sure that it was set to
display hidden folders,
even though the folders that have disappeared were not
hidden folders. I ran
Norton Anti-Virus and scanned several times and found only
the following, made
sure that I have the latest virus definitions installed.
After completing the
scan I was only able to find a virus named W32.HLLW.Studd
in C:\My Shared
Folder\ and was in the file download106985475711751477.dat.
There was also
another virus that did not have a name but was located in
the filename
ar2.jar-585dcd65d-36fd9a95.zip. After Norton Quarantined
these nasty little
critters I deleted them, but I could not see the missing
folders, luckily I have
links to some of the files that are in the folders that
disappeared and verified
that they are still there, and even when I use the save as
function for the
files (i.e. an msword file) I can see the some of the
missing sub!
folders when browsing the location to save to, but when in
the browsing in the
save as menu as soon as I go up into the My Folder menu I
can no longer see the
missing sub-folder. Also, I know the files and subfolder
are still on my HD, but
when I run a search to try and locate some of the files
Windows can not find the
missing sub-folders or the files contained within them.
Please HELP!
p.s. Not sure if it is related, but after I noticed this
when I went to the
Add/remove programs menu, and some of the programs, like
IME do not show up?
