Styles sheet mysteriously quit working.

Hi all.
This one has me puzzled, I don't know what happened.
Have FP2003. Am developing a web site, not published yet.
Things have been working fine, have a styles sheet set up for all my web
pages, this is the typical code in each page's header section.
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="styles.css">

Suddenly, yesterday, the styles quite working in "Design" mode. Everything
displays in Design mode, but without the styles formating.
My web pages display OK (and show styles formating) in different browsers
and also in "Preview" mode.

I looked at the date on my styles.css page and it was modified several weeks
ago so I didn't accidently change something in the styles page just recently.

Any ideas on my delima?
Is there a function in FP that toggles ON/OFF the styles sheet in Design mode?

I checked it out.
Both CSS 1.0 and CSS 2.0 boxes have check marks in them so that's not the
problem.
