Stupid taskbar question.

Hi, I have three programs that I always keep open on a second monitor, so I
can see them all the time. I really don't need them showing in ( and
cluttering up ) the taskbar. Is there a way to have a program running, but
not showing itself in the taskbar? Thanks for any help.

Not unless the programmer has designed his software to run this way.
Write to the authors -- perhaps they can add it as an option in a
future release. They'd also have to allow the program to minimise
to the notification area (system tray), but it's not too difficult to
implement either feature.

I am not an expert, but I would expect that if a program is running,
Windows will insist on showing it in the task bar. I suspect your
problem is not that the program name appears in the task bar, but that
it so crowds the task bar that you cannot see the names of the programs
which you need to select. This is a common problem with users that
place the task bar on the bottom of the screen.

I am one that often has ten programs running simultaneously. So I can
see what is running, I have permanently moved the task bar to the right
side of the screen and set it so it is hidden except when I bring the
mouse to the far right side of the screen. On the right side of the
screen, you can make it wide enough so you can see the complete name of
each running program as well as the name of the directory being viewed
with windows explorer.

Try it. You may like it.

Thanks for the tip. I'm trying it, but it's gonna take some getting used to.
It just seems so different.
