Stupid question about memory...

You can use 3200 as 2700 or 2100
You can use 2700 as 2100 not 3200
You can not use 2100 as 2700 or 3200

This means you can clock your ram lower than it's actual speed but not
higher.

You should be able to do that. From what I've read and heard you may want to
try your best to get the same brand of memory for compatiblity sake. There
should for the most part be no problem, but it's preferable to be aware that
mixing different brands of RAM can cause misrecognition by the mb.

Thanks for the reply. Let me revise my question a little bit... I
currently have 512 mb of PC2100 in my Asus A7N266-VM and want to add another
stick. Does it need to be 2100 or can it be any of the others? That's what
I meant by mixing - sorry for not being clear.

Thanks,
Nate

Thanks Jan. I was planning on getting the same brand (Crucial).
