Stupid 2003 Task Pane

How do you config the task pane on Word 2003 so it never comes back again? This is retarded... I DON'T WANT it on the page because other people who use this computer can see the last thing I was working on... I know how to use view, toolbars, customize... But every time I click it off it comes back again when I pull up Word... The Task Pane is worthless... Who's idea was this? And don't give me any crap about setting up a password for two different users... That's just more idiocy... I want to use Word without the task pane... AND I don't want it to come back again... The task pane is just a pain in the a**...

From what you've written I guess that nothing more practical will satisfy
you, but has it occurred to you to turn off the Recently Used File List?

Get the Task Pane Controller from
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/ShowTaskPane.htm. It will allow
you to turn it off for good.

Has it occurred to you that simple things just seem to work smoother and complexity is just hack propaganda pumped down our throats to market and control things? This whole race for options and 'the new and improved' is just a way to sell more crap that we don't need... From tennis shoes to software... automobiles, bubble gum, dental floss and toilet paper the consumer is inundated with THE NEW... It's just a way to sell crap... Make your product right the first time... And leave it be... That's how people make real money... Microsoft will just implode on itself with all this complexity... Some one will come along and make something simple and Bill Gates will be begging for spare changs on the sidewalk...

While I tend to agree in many respects, the fact is that some users actually
like the task pane (I am not among them, but there are some).
