Stuck read receipts Outlook 2003

Having a problem with stuck read receipts on outlook 2003, XP Pro SP2
When an incoming mail requests a read receipt be sent and I comply and send
one, It gets stuck preventing me sending any other mail from that account
until I have cleared the stuck item using MDBVU32.exe
I have several e-mail accounts monitored by outlook
I can cure the problem each time it occurs, but cannot get to the root of
what's causing the problem.
In all other aspects Outlook seems to work OK.
Anyone know a cure for this one?

Ususally, the receipt is trying to send from a non-existent account.
 
Cheers Brian, but that would seem odd as I would have just received an email
on the offending account which requested a read receipt and I can send and
receive on that account without problems unless I've a stuck receipt on it
