Stuck in Safe Mode

Friend has pc with XP Home. Was fine 4 days ago but now only boots to safe
mode.

Ni restore points available except 4 years ago.

Where should I start?

Try running msconfig
and take everything out of startup

then see if the machine boots up normally.

If it works, then put at least your virus checker back into startup
 
run msconfig

and see the tab pertaining
to the boot

sometimes, safemode is
enabled there.

there is also a option to
check all boot paths.
 
Sorry, the PC in use is Windows ME
