i had to completely wipe my hard disk clean and reinstall
windows 2000, now my laptop wont recognize the monitor
and uses its default VGA driver. The only option in the
control panel is 16 bit color.. i dont have the option to
change the color or to change the monitor.... any
advice?!?! anyone know where to actually find drivers for
monitors.. i cant find them on this site.

Its not a problem with the monitor driver, it is because it is using
default VGA driver. You need to go to the website for laptop manfacturer
and download display driver for Windows 2000.

.. . . or even easier: Look for the driver on the CD that came with
your laptop.

You need a video adapter driver for W2K. Monitor "drivers" only specify what
refresh rate the video adapter can send it. If no W2K driver is available
for W2K, try an NT4 video adapter driver created for your specific hardware.

I think you mean "16 colour" not "16 bit colour" ?
