stuck emails

First Day with Windows 7. Easier? Not sure yet. Don't understand why Outlook
won't import the backup.pst I saved before upgrading the O/S.

However ...

On the subject of stuck emails I've just fallen foul of this problem, and
discovered something. In the New Contact dialog box, the display name always
has appended to it the email address (entered a few boxes up), in parentheses
(...). If when composing my email I type the name and let Outlook find the
email address, it is put in the To: line with the display name, and the email
in roiund brackets. And it gets stuck. If I cut and paste the email alone
(very tedious) it leaves the Outbox very quickly. Can anyone explain this?

Why are you IMPORTING? This has been posted many many thousands of times.
This is NOT the way to transfer data from one Outlook to another.

Copy the pst file to your HDD (put it into your Documents folder), remove
any read-only attribute by right-clicking on it and choosing properties,
then open Outlook and do File-Open-Outlook Data file. Navigate to where you
put it...

Tried that; it didn't work either.

What does "it doesn't work" MEAN? What EXACTLY happens when you try? Please
post any error message(s) in FULL.
Thank you.
