Striped volume settings

I have a 875 motherboard, 2 SATA and 2 IDE hard drives,
in the process of setting this up.

For best performance, what stripe size should I use?

Is it better to use the built-in BIOS striped volume for the SATA
drives or to make striped partitions within Windows XP?
 
And what are the recommendation in the user guide for your specific use of the computer?
